Collins becomes the 3rd worst center on an active roster, ahead of his brother Jarron and the immortal Jerome James.

I never thought I'd see the day Collins' close rating went up, but they also overhauled their standards so we'll let it slide. It does stand out next to all the other 60-70 overall centers they didn't bother editing, as they all have close ratings in the 50s and 60s.

Oddly enough they found cause to lower Collins' mid-range. Collins can actually hit this shot, he hit 7 last year.

Let's compare Collins mid-range (55) to Shaq (59) and Biedrins (63).

Js. Collins mid-range
2008: 7-20 (.350)
2007: 15-46 (.326)
2006: 55-131 (.419)
2005: 63-149 (.422)
Total: 140-346 (.404)

S. O’Neal
2008: 0-0 (.000)
2007: 0-0 (.000)
2006: 0-0 (.000)
2005: 0-2 (.000)
Total: 0-2 (.000)

A. Biedrins
2008: 0-0 (.000)
2007: 0-1 (.000)
2006: 0-1 (.000)
2005: 0-0 (.000)
Total: 0-2 (.000)

Collins took TEN times more mid-range shots as a part-time player this year than both players have taken in the last FOUR years.

But who cares about elementary math when you're getting paid to work with numbers?

For some reason they decided he was worthy of a 58 layup while similar players were left at 50. I'm not gonna get into this one as I still can't figure the logic 2k is using here. 2K gave Dwight Howard a layup rating 3 points lower than Tony Parker which is all you need to know about their legitimacy.

Moving along we get to post offense. Why a 51? Why not 50? Why not 52? Collins was obviously overrated with a 70 post offense. Joel Przybilla went from a 64 to a 60. What makes Collins 9 points worse than the Thrilla? Were they just picking numbers out of a hat? Are you seriously going to tell me Jason Collins could not back down Nate Robinson?

Post defense, like it was for 95% of the players, was left exactly the same as last year. Anyone whose actually seen Collins play knows he is one of the best post defenders in the NBA. He shut down Chris Bosh in the playoffs two years ago. This is the same Chris Bosh they give 90s in post offense every year. I don't understand how you can butcher the post offense ratings of every player but leave post defense exactly the same. Isn't that gonna lead to what we call GAME IMBALANCES? Monta Ellis would have more success posting up Jason Collins than Jason Collins would have posting up Monta Ellis. THIS IS RETARDED.

Defensive rebounding they rated based on his Nets stats for some reason. His Memphis numbers fell in line with the rest of his career. Collins was basically giving up boards to J-Kidd so he could stat pad his way to a contract extension, as both players had their rebound rates return to normal after their respective trades.

Then we get to the best part - the awareness ratings. The 2K Insider decided that Collins is the worst post up center in the history of mankind. And Collins is truly a terrible offensive player, we know this. So then why the hell is he still rated a 60 offensive awareness? Oh right, because like post defense, you edited awareness for maybe 5% of the league's players.

Defensively, you've got him equivalent to Mark ****ing Blount.

Just a second. Wow.

Jason Collins: 74 DefAwr, 60 OffAwr
Mark Blount: 74 DefAwr, 59 OffAwr

If you guys heard a loud thump around the time I wrote this (2:26PM EST) it was me smacking my forehead in absolute disgust.

Who comes up with this stuff?
